Enjoying the End of Summer with Coconut Oil
The end of summer is fast approaching... sigh. We know, we wish it wasn't ending so fast! But, what really matters is that you make the most out of your summer while you still can. Whether that means lounging in the sun at the beach or going on a long hike, coconut oil can help make the most out of your last beautiful, sunshiny days. Continue reading below to find out how to put it work!
1. Shaving Cream
We know, we know, shaving is THE worst. But, if you’re looking to keep your legs soft and smooth this summer, keep a jar of coconut oil in your shower. Coconut oil is perfect for shaving your legs because it is water resistant, and doesn’t wash away before you can finish shaving.
If that summer sun seems to be drying out your skin, reach for coconut oil. Coconut oil is so moisturizing and is able to penetrate your skin’s natural moisture barrier, increasing hydration and reducing water loss in your dry skin.
If you’re looking for a natural sunscreen, look no further than coconut oil. Research has found that coconut oil has a natural SPF of 10 and can be used to protect your skin from harmful rays. If you’re going to be lounging all day in the hot sun, we wouldn’t recommend relying solely on coconut oil. Instead, check out our natural sunscreen recipe here.
4. Hair Conditioner
Our favourite way to use coconut oil as a moisturizer is to leave it in while we soak up the sun on the beach. The warmth of the sun will help the coconut oil to soak into your hair, leaving it soft, silky, and conditioned. Just make sure to rinse it all out so your hair isn’t left greasy.
5. Insect Repellant
If sand flies at the beach are driving you nuts, try slathering on some coconut oil. The coconut oil will help to create a barrier for your skin, helping keep the sand flies from actually landing on your skin and biting you.
6. Sunburn Soother
It happens to the best of us. Forget to re-apply sunscreen after swimming? Forget to apply it all together? If your skin is looking a little pink, try applying coconut oil to soothe the burn.
Well, there you have it! Now get outside and go enjoy that summer sun! Just don't forget your coconut oil.
